The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is a nonprofit international professional association engaged in the science and practice of Electronic Warfare (EW), Information Operations (IO), and related disciplines. The AOC fulfills its mission by providing the following:
  • Journal of Electronic Defense (JED).

  • Symposia, seminars, lectures and courses in all areas of Electronic Defense and related disciplines.

  • Increased awareness to the general public, commercial/industrial partners, leaders and government agencies.

  • Studies and analyses to support national defense issues.

  • Educational grants and scholarships.

  • Recognition of accomplishments through awards.

AOC Objectives

  • To support the policies of the United States and friendly countries to achieve an adequate defense capability with the minimum essential equipment and resources to operate effectively against any adversary.

  • Maintain the AOC as the lead professional association for Electronic Warfare/Information Operations.

  • Recruit members from all focus areas.

  • Enhance the Association’s services to all members.

  • Continue to improve the Association’s professional image

The name "Old Crows" emerged from the first use of electronic warfare in World War II to disrupt enemy communications and radars. Allied equipment and operators were known by the code name "Raven". Common jargon changed the name to "Crows" and those engaged in the profession became known as "Old Crows".

Formed in 1964, AOC is a nonprofit tax-exempt professional association with 65 chapters in 19 countries. The affiliated AOC Educational Foundation provides scholarship grants to college students. The Association’s headquarters is located in Alexandria, Virginia. At present there are over 14,500 members throughout the world.
