The Industrial Representatives Association (IRA) is incorporated in the State of New Jersey, with principal offices in Monmouth County. The Eatontown-based IRA is not associated nor affiliated with any other IRA nationally or internationally. The IRA has been operationally active in the Fort Monmouth area since 1965. Mr. J. L. Farmer was its first
President.
The Association, through its members, is dedicated to promoting and maintaining better relations between industry and government agencies. The Association, through its activities and membership interaction, fosters a better professional relationship and understanding among the individuals of the Association. The Association monitors the ever-changing technology of Government R&D through monthly technical briefings and committee activities, and follows the current policy in the Government acquisition process to better prepare its members to execute business development
activities.
The members of the Eatontown-based IRA represent approximately 160 companies doing business with the Fort Monmouth community. The IRA currently has over 145 active members whose primary function is marketing or sales to Army agencies in the Fort Monmouth area. Most of the companies represented have local offices that service customers and provide contractual support. A twelve member Executive Committee with the President presiding manages the
IRA.
The IRA holds monthly technical meetings in the Fort Monmouth area, inviting as speakers many of the CECOM Command Management , and Chiefs of Activities to discuss current and future development programs that may be competed among the Industrial community. Technical luncheon meetings for members only are held the second Tuesday of each
month.
Requirements of membership include: actively calling upon government organizations at Fort Monmouth, in a marketing capacity, on a regular basis (minimum of six days per month); $240 per year dues, payable monthly plus an initiation fee $50; active participation in the organization's meetings and committees. An annual re-certification is also required.
